The Event

COLAOB – Latin American Congress of Artificial Organs and Biomaterials is an event that has exceeded public expectations every year. It is considered the most important event in the field in Latin America. This success is due to its multi and transdisciplinary nature, which drives discussions in the interface between health and engineering, making it a fertile environment for new research and collaboration.

The seventh edition of this event will take place in Natal, Brazil, a friendly city with ample experience and infrastructure to host large national and international events, in addition to boasting a pleasant climate, extensive hotel facilities and easy national air access.

Following up on the success of the last congress, an exciting program is being prepared for COLAOB-2012.  The value of young scientists is recognized through awards and forums. Research and development is promoted through round table discussions with participants from the medical field, manufacturers and government entities. Knowledge is shared in interdisciplinary workshops on cell cultures, surface modification, and biological sample preparation, among others. State-of-the-art knowledge is presented at plenary sessions featuring internationally renowned lecturers. These are but some of the points to be discussed at this congress.

Furthermore, COLAOB2012 is preparing several social activities, such as a dinner, cocktail and parties, since we believe that a festive environment is propitious to forging new friendships and interpersonal relationship networks, which help in developing research and sharing experiences and knowledge among participants.

We look forward to seeing you in Natal!

Clodomiro Alves Junior
President of 7th COLAOB
