During the last Steering Committee meeting held at Antalya in 2006 for the evaluation of bids for the selection next IRaP venue, the committee honored the Brazilian proposal by selecting Angra dos Reis – Rio de Janeiro as the site for the organization of IRaP2008. The IRaP2008 will be held in the Hotel do Frade Convention Center, an exclusive five star hotel located in Angra dos Reis, region near Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. For several countries no visa is required to enter Brazil. Other nationalities have to apply for a visa before arriving to Brazil. Please check here whether you will need a visa or not. The Conference Secretariat will provide to delegates a letter of invitation to IRAP 2008 when necessary.

Sugarloaf Mountain
Is situated in the southern part of Rio. This hill rises 396 meters above sea-level and provides an amazing panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro. A cable-car runs between the ground station in Urca and the top of the hill every 20 minutes, daily from 8 am to 9 pm. Tickets cost about 20 US-$. Take a cab to Praia Vermelha, and make sure to go on a clear day. |

Cristo Redentor
Is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. This Jesus statue is some 38 meters tall, standing atop the Corcovado mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro. It was designed by Heitor da Silva Costa and is one of the world's best-known monuments. Trains run between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm, departing every half hour. Tickets cost about 20 US-$. |

Maracanã Football Stadium
Once housing more than 200,000 spectators, Maracanã stadium underwent reconstruction and today has a all-seated capacity of 95,000. Tickets cost around 15 US-$. If you want to go there for a football match, check the official website where detailed information about upcoming matches will be given a few days in advance. |

Tijuca Forest
Is what's left of the Atlantic rain forest once sourrounding Rio de Janeiro, and considered being the largest urban forest in the world. In this exuberant green you will find many different bird and animal species. It's best to book a jeep tour which takes approximately 4 hours. |

Historic Center
The center of Rio is excellent for getting an impression of the city away from its famous beaches. Packed with imperial buildings, museums and theaters, the center should only be explored during the week. Make sure you leave before sunset. |

Beaches and Islands
There are 365 islands and more than 2000 beaches. Choose a spot on the map to see pictures, tips over the most famous beaches, some so unknown as enchanting. |

Sports and Adventures
Angra dos reis’ versatile geography allows a great variety of sports like biking, fishing, diving, skiing, rafting, paragliding, surf, sailing. Mambo Jungle, a tourism agency located into the hotel can help you and accompanying person to have a lot of fun. |

Cultural Attractions
Like many Brazilian colonial cities, Angra dos Reis and Parati were deeply influenced by the Catholic Church. In a small area it is possible to find a great number of convents, churches and monuments, even at the little islands, which is very charming. The downtown Angra was built in curves, following the wind that blows all day. |

Cultural
Paraty started around 1600. The first settlement was on the other side of the river where they erected a church to their patron “St. Roque”, where today we have the Morro do Forte. Paraty has been a National Historical site since 1966 and has been pleading for its recognition as a cultural Patrimony of the Humanity. |
